I did a study of the iris that are blooming. For the violet shades, I experimented with using cobalt violet, manganese violet, Winsor violet (dioxazine), and a mix of phthalo blue with quinacridone magenta. For this composition, Winsor violet was the best. Copyright 2015 Charles Snell.
Recently I painted in Mt. Holly, New Jersey with the Rancocas Valley Plein Air Painters. The painting is a view of White Street. Most of the work was done with a painting knife. (c) 2015 Charles Snell.
